The marriage information used is the one given on the birth records of their two youngest children: on 8 Jun 1838 in Kilbarchan (Renfrew County). These children were the only ones born after 1855 when it became mandatory to register births, etc. Another record is found on FHL #1,041,090 Frame2854 which is 19 May 1838 Paisley, Abbey Parish, Renfrew, Scotland. Michael's name is listed as Mitchell. It was a common practice at this time for banns to be posted in both the bride's and the groom's parishes. These places are close together.
